Our services
Physical Therapy
Each Physical Therapy session at EQ is 60 minutes, one-on-one with a licensed Physical Therapist. This one-on-one time during each session gives our clinicians time to listen, observe, feel and appropriately treat inefficiencies in the system such as faulty posture, habits, mechanical dysfunctions, strength deficits, uncoordinated movement patterns that may lead to pain and functional impairments. As all of our sessions are a continuous process of observation and discovery, we find that patients respond quicker and better to treatments that are directed entirely by the Physical Therapist.
The State of New Jersey requires that all Physical Therapists take 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years. Each of the Physical Therapists at EQ complete over 100 hours of course work every year in order to better serve our patients reach their untapped potential. Currently, we employ two main paradigms at EQ: Functional Manual Therapy (FMT) through the Institute of Physical Art and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) from the Prague School of Rehabilitation. We have also taken coursework through teachings of Jean Pierre Barral’s Visceral/Neural Manipulation, Ron Hruska’s work through the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI), and Herman & Wallace for Pelvic Rehabilitation.
Functional Manual Therapy ®
Physical Therapy at Equilibrium LLC is rooted in looking at the individual through a holistic lens and understanding that pain and movement dysfunction can be driven by areas that are distant from the site of pain. All of the Physical Therapists at EQ have undergone intensive training in Functional Manual Therapy through the Institute of Physical Art, a school of thought founded by Gregg and Vicky Johnson in the late 1970s. The FMT approach appreciates the interconnectedness of the human body and movement in order to help everyone discover their true potential. With a heavy emphasis on keen observation and advanced manual techniques, all of our Physical Therapists help optimize mechanical mobility, optimize neuromuscular function and enhance motor control/movement - hallmarks to the FMT approach.
Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS)
All of our Physical Therapists at EQ incorporate principles from DNS out of the Prague School of Rehabilitation. DNS emphasizes neurodevelopmental aspects of motor control in order to assess and restore dysfunction of the locomotor system and associated syndromes. The Prague School of Rehabilitation was established by the teachings of Vladimir Janda, Karel Lewitt, Vaclav Vojta and Frantisek Vele, making up the basis for the development of DNS by Professor Pavel Kolar. You can check out this introductory video to DNS. Our Physical Therapists here are pursuing certification as DNS practitioners.
“I highly recommend EQ as the perfect place to go when it comes to your overall well-being. The team has been lifesavers for myself and my family.”
